Hurricane Impact Windows Can Save You More Money Than You Think

When people think of impact windows, they tend to think about the money it will save them when a hurricane or tropical storm hits and they don’t run the risk of a shattered window. Although this is true, there are several other monetary benefits of installing  our South Florida impact windows throughout your home or business. They are most definitely an economical and decision that won’t be regretted. Keeps The Burglars Out Impact windows also double as a built-in security system, as they are completely burglar proof. Because of their unique and intricate design, they are shatterproof meaning robbers don’t stand a chance in breaking in. This, in turn, will save you money on installing a security system. This will also ensure that your property is protected if you are away on vacation giving you added peace of mind. Keeps The Sun’s Rays Out Hurricane resistant windows have an exclusive three-panel design. The super-thick glass works to defer UV light that would be transferred inside, keeping hot air out and cool air in. In South Florida, that is a huge selling feature. These windows block 99% of transmitted UV light so they will not discolor your furniture or paintings on the wall. You will save a substantial amount of money on your monthly electrical bill with impact windows. Keeps Debris Out Our impact windows in South Florida are lined with a tape-like material that works to hold the glass in place in the chance that flying debris was to hit it, similar to a car windshield. You will no longer have the worry of shattered glass littering your home if...

Should you replace your windows if you may be selling your home in the next few years?

In the ever changing real estate market in South Florida, this is a question that Daniel Van Dyk of the The Window Experts gets asked often by customers. According to Van Dyk you can always get the value of replacement windows back not only in the increased value of the home and faster sale, but also can help in reduced taxes if you do decide to sell your home. Add the fact that replacement windows add to the safety of your family from storms and home invasions there is little reason not to upgrade your windows even when a home sale may be on the table in your near future. For tax purposes, a home improvement includes any work done that substantially adds to the value of your home, increases its useful life, or adapts it to new uses. These include room additions, window replacements, new bathrooms, decks, fencing, landscaping, wiring upgrades, walkways, driveway, kitchen upgrades, plumbing upgrades, and new roofs. If you use your home purely as your personal residence, you cannot deduct the cost of home improvements. These costs are nondeductible personal expenses. However, this doesn't mean that home improvements do not have a tax benefit. They can help reduce the amount of taxes you have to pay when you sell your home at a profit. This is because the cost of home improvements are added to the tax basis of your home. "Basis" means the amount of your investment in your home for tax purposes. The greater your basis, the less profit you'll receive when you sell your home. Example:Jane purchased her home in 2002 for $500,000 and sold...

How will Windows and Doors change in 2015?

According to Window and Door Publication, there looks to be some positive change on the horizon for manufacturers in the New Year, according to results from the annual Window & Door Industry Pulse survey.  Sixty percent of surveyed manufacturers report that they plan to modernize and increase efficiency in 2015. Second on the priority list in terms of where they will invest is in expanding production capacity.  If you’re considering window replacement and upgrades to your South Florida Home in the coming year, it pays to choose an installer that keeps current with construction and manufacturing trends, like Daniel Van Dyk, owner of The Window Experts in Boca Raton. This aligns with other feedback from the study, namely, that only 9 percent of manufacturers do not plan to add new products to their offerings in the coming year. The Window Experts keep up to date on many product launches planned around the major trade shows in the industry, including the International Builders’ Show in January and GlassBuild America in September 2015. In terms of what types of products manufacturers plan to add to their lines, 33% of surveyed manufacturers will introduce windows that meet the new v6.0 Energy Star requirements. Vinyl windows and entry doors are also anticipated introductions. The category of “other” included products such as accessories and enhancements to existing platforms, options, aluminum windows and doors, extrusion components, tempered glass, new machine designs, and composite windows. Before you choose an installer in Palm Beach, Dade or Broward county for your window replacement project, make sure they are up to date and quoting you on the latest and...
